| City of Armadale Recycling bins were provided at 16 events between the beginning of July 2010 and the end of January 2011. These events included international rowing events at the Champion Lakes Regatta Centre, the Karragullen Machinery Field Day, a Pregnancy Expo, Mental Health Awareness Day, Christmas Carols, Indigenous community events, Australia Day celebrations and a host of other community events, organised by the City and community organisations.
Because the recycling stations were manned and the bins were always supervised, contamination was very very low. Prior to this project, only a few recycling bins had been supplied to a couple of events and only as part of a trial, so recycling of beverage containers at events was practically non-existent and all waste was landfilled.
90 wheelie bins of beverage containers were collected and recycled that would otherwise have been landfilled. In addition, a large number of people, from all areas of the community, came into contact with the recycling station and the recycling message. The supervised station and the incentives offered an interactive experience which engaged the public in public place recycling.

| City of Joondalup In past the community found that recycling bins placed at community events had a very high rate of contamination. With use of the grant funds, residents attending community events were given specially made bags to use to take home their recyclables and dispose of them in recycling bins. The approach was warmly received. A visual check of patrons leaving the events indicated that the majority of participants understood the logic behind the initiative and were willing to take part. City staff at the event estimated that litter had been reduced by around 40% due to residents taking their recyclables home in the bags provided.
