2010 Grant Recipients |
| National Convention Centre The grant was sought to enable the NCC to increase the level of public participation in the Centre’s recycling program. The National Convention Centre is a purpose built convention facility that hosts a combination of conferences and public events such as concerts, seminars, sporting events and exhibitions. They have a focus on recycling by the staff. This is not supported by the equipment in place for use by their guests.
The project had two components: The purchase of additional well-labeled recycling bins for use in public areas; and additional training for staff that includes a visit to the MRF in Hume. This project addressed the specific issue of beverage container recycling by providing recycling options to the public, and promoting their use.
They purchased 4 additional “split bins” to be positioned in public areas throughout the National Convention Centre. The additional $1,301.52 was used for staff training, including development and implementation of a recycling “Ten Minute Trainer” for all new staff.
